Synopsis
In 458 BC, the Roman Senate privately elects Cincinnatus as consul for a consecutive term. A year earlier Cincinnatus’ son, Caseo, was banished for a crime fabricated by the senate to appease the Plebs who refused to take up arms to defend Rome. Cincinnatus rejects the consulship and retreats to work his farm with his wife Racilla and his son Titus. When Consul Minucius leads the Roman army through dense fog into a crevasse in the Algidus mountains, they are surrounded by General Gracchus Cloelius and the brutal Aequi Army. With Rome left undefended, the senate elects Cincinnatus dictator – this time he accepts, but vows to step down when the job is done. Titus, to the dismay of his fiancée and mother, will fight his first battle alongside his father. Cincinnatus assembles the old, young and injured, Patrician and Pleb, and marches to the Algidus mountains. Gracchus has lost to Cincinnatus before, but this time he’s ready, this time Rome is his for the taking…
